Hi Mary I think this is the first time I've ever seen a Magpie. Though the bird is BW in coloration it's still very pretty. Love the vertical stripe thru the eye. Love how the bird is looking to the side and it's position in the image. Focus and lighting are very nice. Thanks for sharing! :o) Nancy

Mary,
This deserves a Six but I've run out of them. The Magpie Lark is a beautiful bird with the most unusual plumage & pale eyes like a Jackdaw. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

This is an interesting photograph of a bird I've never heard of. Beautiful focus and clarity showing the viewer his lovely color and texture of his feathers. I enjoyed the narrative also.

This is another bird that I have not seen or heard of, I like its black and white plumage and especially like the black band on face.
The bird is nicely placed within the frame on the left with plenty of room to look or move in to on the right. It stands out from this natural background .
Well focused, this image is clear and colors and tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented.
I appreciate your informative notes . Thank you for always sharing such interesting birds!

This is a wonderful shot of the bird, Magpie Lark.. You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours, and composition have worked out well. Good effort!

A fine looking nature image posted here together with interesting notes too! Sounds like people there had a hard time naming that striking bird. Wonder what "passerine" means? Well taken!

Thanks :) "passerine" denoting birds of a large order distinguished by having feet that are adapted for perching,
