Even though photographs themselves are static, they can still convey a strong sense of movement. When we look at pictures, we see what's happening and tend to look ahead. If your subject has nowhere to move except out of the frame, or worse, into the frame creates a feeling of imbalance or unease for the viewer.
● Anything moving should have space to move into, flying birds, swimming creatures, cars, planes, bicycles, boats, runners, walkers, etc.
● Something perceived to move should have space to move, such as a bird on a branch, a car, boat, bicycle, etc. even it if isn't moving but could, needs some space to move into.
● Portraits of people, best captured with space in the direction they are gazing gives them the sense of freedom.
