Square Format - This is a Photography Contest.
Square Format is all the rage thanks in big part to Instagram. However square format does not mean necessarily centered. It means taking a photograph that has a 1:1 ratio to it and still causes the eye to wander around to take in the entire image.
● Square format photography naturally helps the photographer eliminate distractions and concentrate on the subject.
● The viewer's eye stays within the frame and is more likely to move around the image in a circle instead of side to side or up and down.
● It is easier to achieve a balanced frame because the rule of thirds is less of a factor
● The square format makes much better use of the image circle helping to get the most out of your lenses.
● It is easier to fill the frame.
● Simple, subtle compositions are usually better
