Missed Focus
Missed Focus - How many times when you go to take a photograph do your focal points in the camera land on the wrong place and your subject if out of focus and something else is nice and sharp? Share those missed focus shots, or go take one on purpose to practice using your focal points in you camera. This can be done with any camera, doesn't matter if it is a high end DSLR or a Point n Shoot, they all have focal points, circles or squares. Some of them are very funny, others can be very appealing.
● Your subject or focal point must clearly be out of focus
● Another area must be in very clear focus and it must be different from your subject
** This is not about one item in a group being in focus, the subject out of focus must be different from what is in focus
● Some examples would be a portrait but the person or pet is out of focus and the background sharp and in focus, or a flower that is clearly the subject of your photograph is out of focus but the fence or trellis behind it is sharp and in focus.
● Any subject you choose is fine, as long as it is out of focus and something else in the picture is sharp and in focus
Basic Editing is allowed, this is the definition of Basic Editing as it relates to this contest:
You Must:
●Create from a single image
You may:
●Crop
●Rotate
●Straighten
●Resize
●Use filters or stand alone plug-ins for enhancement, sharpening, adjusting levels and white balance, that are designed to preserve Image Integrity, such as Topaz Adjust, Clarity, Detail, Nik Color Efex, Neat Images
●Saturate, desaturate or adjust colors but no selections allowed
●Process in RAW as long as the process does not create new effects or features and preserves Image Integrity
●Clone to remove blemishes and minor distractions such as sensor dirt, phone lines
●You can use any feature in your camera except combining of multiple images in camera
You may not:
●Spot edit you entry for any reason other than noted above
●Use any selection tool, layer masks, quick masks or similar tools
●Use layers
●Add images from another image
●Use graphics or effects
●Use any editing tools to create new image areas, objects or features, including vignettes, fog, len flare, blur and related features
●distort or stretch your image in any way including perspective or skew
This contest is being monitored by the CEC so there are more opinions than mine on what is the subject, what is out of focus and what is in focus. I will, as usual send out a pm if I think it might not be in compliance, but I have no control over the CEC once I establish they are the Contest Monitors :)
