Apeture Games
Apeture Games - Photography Contest
This is a contest to test your skills at using your apeture (f-stop). The size of your apeture helps determine what your depth of field is.
Create an entry showing different Depth of Fields. You will need to include at least 2 images and no more than 4 images. Underneath each image list your apeture size (f-stop). You should start with the shallowest DOF up to the deepest DOF in the layout of your entry. Hint: photographing small object will make the differences in your Depth of Field more obvious.
To find your F-stop or apeture size, right click on your image, then select properties, select details and scroll down to view f.stop. This is what is called your exif. Information.
Here is a link to DOF Master which is really helpful in calculating how deep your depth of field is: DOF Master
Generally speaking f 1.4 is the largest apeture and f 22 is the largest. Here is a graphic example
Apeture Openings
Large apeture F2 has a shallow Depth of Field, F22 has a deeper Depth of Field.
You can also participate in this contest using a Point and Shoot. You don't necessarily need a Dslr. You can trick your camera into doing what you want. Macro setting is a large apeture setting, while Landscape is a small apeture and Portrait falls in between. You can find your F - stop or apeture size by looking on your exif information as explained above. If you have a Dslr, it is a good time to get off those automatic settings :)
If you have any questions, please send me a PM so I can answer promptly.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Monday, October 5, 2015.
