The topic for this Photography/Art/Sculpture/??? [Fill in the ???] Contest is:
ONE OF THESE THINGS.
Are you familiar with Sesame Street? In America, I believe everyone grew up on Sesame Street. I never heard of Sesame Street until I came to America. It is one of the shows I watched (even though I was an adult) that helped me learn English (smile). Sesame Street taught us so much: counting, colors, words, letters, and ideas. The ideas were either implied or outright. Most of their sketches were educational, but some had a message, which was just as important as the educational content. One of the messages I remember is to recognize differences but also to recognize that these differences make the world special.
For this contest (the median you use it totally up to you) you will be submitting either 3 plus 1 or 5 plus 1 or 7 plus 1. MEANING you will create a collage containing a total of 4 pictures or 6 pictures or 8 pictures. These pictures can be photographs or paintings or drawings or sculptures or wood carvings or embroidery....etc etc etc.
On Sesame Street, one of the sketches is ONE OF THESE THINGS.
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
Submit 3 or 5 or 7 of the same things and 1 of a different thing. For example 5 photos of different horses and 1 photo of a cow OR 7 digital art butterflies and 1 digital art dragonfly OR 3 paintings of sky scrapers and 1 painting of a cabin OR 7 drawings of flowers and 1 drawing of a tree OR 3 wood carvings of manly faces and 1 wood carving of a womanly face. The list is endless and so is your imagination. What and how is totally up to you. However, the 3 or 5 or 7 things must be similar...7 pictures of dogs...different dogs, not 7 pictures of the same dog and then 1 picture of a cat. BE CREATIVE. HAVE FUN. Entry fee is cheap --- a mere $2--- because I would love to see all 20 slots filled.
Submit a collage of 4, 6, or 8 photos, paintings, drawings, stained glass, digital art, mixed media, etc etc etc. It is up to you what it will be but it must be something you personally created. Maybe you knit. You will submit 5 photos of different scarves you knitted and 1 photo of a hat you knitted. Only thing I ask is NO ABSTRACTs. We will leave those for another contest.
Be sure to address what you have the same and what you have different in your Artist's notes.
The final work of art should be about the topic provided.
And it should be able to answer the second part of the song....

If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right! (SMILE)
(NOTE: For the second part of the song, you had to pretend to be pointing at the one item in your collage that is different.
Creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
