Spell it Out

The topic for this traditional photo contest is: SPELL IT OUT

This is a traditional photography contest. No edits of your photos using software. Share what you shot without any edits.

Submit a collage containing at least 5 photographs but no more than 7. Each photograph must contain a picture of something that creates a letter of the alphabet. For example, take a look around.....
you see that Ferris wheel over there? Now look at it again. If you take a picture of only half of that Ferris wheel, the left half of that Ferris wheel, you will notice that photo is the letter "C". Can you picture that? Well, that is the name of the game with this particular contest. Your collage will contain pictures of certain letters of the alphabet and those letters will form a word. It can be any word that contains not less than 5 letters of the alphabet but no more than 7 letters of the alphabet. Yes, letters may be duplicate, but pictures may not be duplicate. If the word you choose has two As in it, you must take two different photographs of things that are shaped to look like the letter A.

The letters should be natural, meaning in both nature and human kind of things---a tree or a mountain spring or a building perhaps or a bridge. You may see the letter Y in a tree or the letter c in a rosebush stem. You may see the Letter M in the architecture of a building or the letter A in the architecture of a bridge. PLEASE, do not place petals of a daisy in a circle on your lawn and take a photo of it and tell us it is the letter O. However, you can place your belt in such a way that it looks like a lower case b. That will be acceptable. The difference is the O with the petals is forced and the b with the belt looks unforced. Both upper and lower cases letters of the alphabet are authorized. YES, you may.....BUT ONLY ONE TIME....may you utilize a pre made letter meaning, you may ONLY use a letter that is already a letter in a street sign, store sign, carved into the side of a famous church, etc....BUT ONLY one. Otherwise it would make this contest much too simple. Should you have any questions, please email me.

This should be fun for you. I will give you plenty of time to find those letters. Please include in your Artist's Notes the WORD you have chosen to spell out in your collage and then continue telling us what each letter is and what you took a photograph of in order to get that letter. For example.

I have chosen the word PRETTY............My letter P stems from a picture of the bridge located above I 10 at exit ????? heading towards Phoenix.

Of course you will have included where in the place of my question marks. Then you would continue with the rest of the letters.... R, E, T, T, and Y and tell us about each one of those.

The collage you create is your choice, as long as the word is legible and easy to read.
Your photos should contain letters easy to detect. Please do not take a photo of a letter M inside of a church and when someone looks at it, cannot decipher what letter it is (smile).

Of course the photographs should clearly be about the topic. Creative approaches are welcomed but remember to follow the guidance given above. Contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for their favorite.

This is a traditional photography contest. No edits using software. No digital art or traditional artwork should be submitted. Both Cropping and re-sizing is okay in order to create your collage but no other enhancements or layering etc etc etc.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU GOES OUT FROM ME TO ALL OF YOU THAT ARE PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST....Danke Schoen!!!!!
