Although Australia's settlement history may not be as old as some countries we tend not to preserve our important buildings so it was interesting to visit the homestead one of the oldest in New South Wales and see the church which had been moved to this location. Five times the old Timbrebongie church has been moved in its long history since it was believed to have been built in the 1870s and has ties to Saint Mary MacKillop. It is thought to be the original Timbrebongie Roman Catholic Church owned for 70 years by Duncan MacKillop, the uncle of Australia's only saint. Hopefully it will be a permanent home for this small but historic church.
