Galah's enjoying the heights of the monkey tree

Monkey tree inhabitants

Walking back to our car from Martindale Hall I was looking at the unusual tree, which I believe is a monkey tree, then noticed in the very top branches a group of galah's preening themselves and sharpening beaks on the branches. These birds can be considered a pest in Australia as in good seasons there numbers increase and they feed on the grain crops introduced by the europeans. Galahs naturally feed on grasses, herbs, seeds, nuts, berries, roots, green shoots and leaf buds.
