We went to Mannum on the River Murray for the weekend (Friday/Saturday night). Mannum is about 85Km from Adelaide and has a population of around 2,000. It used to be a major river port for the paddlesteamers but with the introduction of railways that declined. Nowadays it is a popular tourist destination within easy reach of Adelaide and the population can swell to 10,000 during summer with people holidaying in the many shacks on the banks of the Murray. This pelican was quite happy to sit on the fence and pose for me and several other tourists who had just disembarked from the Proud Mary an historic paddlesteamer that provides accommodation and cruises along the river. focal length 180mm F11 1/400s ISO400
