FJ Holden

We stopped for a coffee and cake during our holiday in Victoria and noticed the FJ Holden along with some older vehicles obviously part of a car club. Was impressed that the car was restored so well to its original condition. The FJ Holden was produced by General Motors Holden in Australia from 1953 to 1957 and is an iconic part of Australia's motoring and manufacturing history. Holdens have recently announced they will be closing their manufacturing plants in Australia by 2017 which will leave thousands of workers unemployed and impact on the industries set up in support of Holden. The closure of Holdens comes after Ford Australia announced they were closing and Toyota have since said they will also close. I feel for the younger generation as jobs are disappearing to the cheaper overseas markets and we will lose all of the skills which so many migrants bought to this "lucky" country. One wonders where it will all lead but one thing for sure is that once the cheaper countries have managed to secure all of the industry their prices will increase to similar levels and then where do these companies go....
