The Blue Hyacinth Macaw is a huge bird nearly 1m (3ft) long with .6m (2ft) wingspan. They are native to Brazil and the largest of the macaw family. The colour is stunning but also makes them attractive to international trade and their feathers popular for use in headpieces by local tribes. The Adelaide Zoo have had two on display since 2011.
