Spurn peninsula is a three mile stretch of land which has the East Coast North Sea on one side and the Humber Estuary on the other. It is only just over the width of the road in some parts so the Lifeboat crew and families have to live at the end of the peninsula as it can get cut off in bad weather. Spurn Point is a nature sanctuary for many birds and also deer and other smaller animals. It's a very desolate place but can be very beautiful. I did this in oils from some photos and sketches I did on a painting day with friends. It's near where I lived in Yorkshire so we often used to take a picnic there and paint.
