The PixelArtisan, (Russ), is a digital artist with a strong passion for realism. His paintings often include dramatic skies and lighting and are always highly detailed. All of his digital works are created exclusively with Photoshop, using the mouse as his brush. Each painting generally requires between 60 and 200 hours to complete and are up to 96 inches wide or high. There are never any imported images, scans or other software used in his paintings. Some paintings are from cherished memories, some are his portrayal of specific locations while others are totally imaginary. For the more complex realism paintings he may use a reference photo for specific elements but never copies or duplicates the photo. All of his paintings evoke a sense of peace and serenity, often using enchanting atmospheric colors along with the intricate use of light and shadows. Russ is now moving forward to market his paintings.

Artist Notes
Life is a journey into the unknown. It is a journey that imposes endless diversions of mind, heart and soul. We awake each day with the hopes of good health, family unification, meaningful relationships, peace and prosperity. Our faith is the ship upon which we find the path to eternity. Our heart is the navigator that guides us through the abyss of light and dark. This painting is a reflection of that journey. It is intended to manifest the hope that beyond the ominous clouds there is brightness, color and a renewed sense of purpose and understanding. Life is a complex mixture of emotions, circumstances and events. This amalgam can bring lasting happiness, plunge us into moments of deep despair or, more recurrently, moderations of all three. CalmBeforeTheStorm tells us that if we are willing to persevere, to never lose hope and to trust our faith, there is always the promise of a rainbow at the end of every storm. There is no immunity from this journey. It is a journey that we are all committed to travel. It is the reality of life in its purest and most honest form.
This is a digital painting that has been painted exclusively with Photoshop. There were no scans, imported images or third party applications used. It required 138 hours to complete. The full size painting is 75 x 43 inches. It was painted without reference photos. The location can be anywhere.
