Kake, we believe is a Yellow -crowned Amazon and the beloved pet of our friends. He is rescue with unknown history and origin.
He likes to eat fruit nuts and berries but and blossoms [not always appreciated]. He is a talker and singer, very cute but noisy at times. His favorite song is Margaritaville. Go feature.
The Yellow-crowned Amazon is a Parrot often found in captivity.
About nine subspecies are recognized distinguished by coloration and the geographic distribution from South Mexico to Brazil and Columbia. Feral populations are known in the USA [escaped from captivity, now living wild]. The parrot is about 14 in [35cm] in length and weight about 13-18 oz [380-500g]. Some species, as Kake, have the yellow restricted to a small area on the back wile others have yellow on the forecrown or the neck or an entirely yellow head. The flight feathers are violet to blue becoming green toward the body with a red patch only visible when the wings are open. The bend of the wing could be red with some yellow on the edges. The beak is dark gray to pale yellow and the eye orange to dark brown surrounded by white.
