Sirthomas1960 lives in the back-blocks of rural SE Victoria, and is an amateur artist, writer, renovator, and gardener who would love to make a living from any of the above...but as a recently single dad to the most handsome and clever 7 and 9 year old boys in all of Australia, and quite possibly anywhere else, he finds just surviving their childhood is far too much of a time filler to allow his creative pursuits much more than fleeting interest.
He has been interested in art from an early age, and worked in mainly oils until the last decade or so, when he started to dabble in coloured pencil, and then watercolour pencil. Almost exclusively his work is traditional, and very realistic, but he craves the ability to be more expressive in his artwork...to just let himself go, so to speak wistfully.
Since joining FAR he has discovered the joys of digital art, and can now create to his heart's content without the worry of having his two mini tornadoes making a bomb site of his humble home...now he just wishes there were more hours in his day!
Now selling prints (or trying to!), framed and unframed, from US$14.24 at his online store at http://sirthomas1960.imagekind.com
...and also from AUS$19.50 at http://sirthomas1960.redbubble.com
He has won several contests. The contest submission
Canal Life was the first place winner in the contest Urbanism Art.
Chocolate Romance was the first place winner in the contest Food - Art.
One Last Stand was the first place winner in the contest Digital Painting of the Month.
He is a ranked digital artist and is currently at the #5 spot on this years rankings. He is a top ranked mixed media photographer and is currently at the #43 spot on this years rankings.

Artist Notes
Sorry to inflict my attempt at poetry on you, but I've been wanting to paint an image to go with this poem for a long time.
It was based on someone very special to me some years ago, but as the poem suggests reality is a pretty harsh beast sometimes, so the "soaring" unfortunately ended.
Still, I hope you like the end results, literarily and artistically :)

Our Love Takes Flight
The ink black shadows of the night,
Uplift.
A new day born.
Sunlights' white pixies,
Dance,
On my lovers' form.
You dream, peaceful in our bed,
Content,
Your breathe a whisper.
The only sound my sighing,
Love.
My heart a quiet purr.
I turn, my hand reaching, gently,
Touch.
Fingertips on silken skin.
Your eyes, crystal pools of love,
Open.
My soul drowns in them.
Our eyes meet, our hearts,
Connect.
You take my hand, a kiss.
And liquid jewels trickle,
Crying.
For loving times we'll miss
Reality envelops, its constant needs,
Beckon.
Urging us to part.
But the protective womb of our embrace,
Soothes.
A warm soft shield of comfort.
Reality breaks down our door,
Harsh
But reality is blind, our love so bright
It searches, cannot find us,
Hidden.
As our love soars, on gossamer wings takes flight.
