The Soldier Butterfly [Danaus eresimus] is a Milkweed species related to Monarch and Queen Butterflies. The species is found in tropical America often in the same areas as the Queens. Milkweeds are their host plants. The Soldier in the picture is feeding nectar from a Purple Mist Flower [Hardy ageratum].
