When curtains of the night unfold
She cast her deadly lines
Not one bug will suspect a thing
Until on them she dines
A poem of my own
This female orb spider took up residence right out side the front door. Yikes!!! I have been taking pictures of her for at least a week. She disappears in the daytime, but comes back every night after dark. This was taken during a drizzly night. I think she was heading for cover when I took this shot.
Macro photography reveals a lot about the tinier subjects of earth. I noticed this spider seems to have a claw on the bottom of each leg.
I noticed in the pictures I took that the spider seemed to be hanging from the web. I think she uses those claws to hook the lines of her web.... thereby never really walking on the web. She is actually hanging with each step she takes. I would have never know without the macro shots. ....Of course this is only an assunption...but it looks like it to me.
Hope you enjoy the closeup.
