Artist Notes
I live in a subdivision built where there was all open land and endless wildlife. It is a a place where the mighty Bison roamed free in the vast open landscape. At the time I bought my house, my considerations did not include the plight of the wildlife. Now, it does but it would be impossible to turn back the clock and restore what used to be. The wild animals have adapted to living among humans in an uncomfortable truce. Their their lives and environment forever changed. Man is selfishly plundering the world and destroying the wildlife habitats at an alarming rate. I am not a preservationist who would want progress stopped because of a protected insect or toad. Instead, I am just a realist who believes that we can live in harmony with nature if we decide that it is the right thing to do.
This is a painting that has been created exclusively with Photoshop. I did not use any scanned or imported photos for this painting. I did use a reference photo for the Bison but did not duplicate the image, instead, adding my own creative touches. The full size painting is 52 x 75 inches and required 71 hours to complete.

The PixelArtisan, (Russ), is a digital artist with a strong passion for realism. His paintings often include dramatic skies, articulate lighting and are always highly detailed. All of his digital works are created exclusively with Photoshop. Each painting generally requires between 50 and 100 hours to complete and are up to 96 inches wide or high. There are never any imported images, scans or other software used in his paintings. Some paintings are from cherished memories, some are his portrayal of specific locations while others are totally imaginary. For the more complex realism paintings he may use a reference photo for specific elements but never copies or duplicates the photo. He always adds his own touches to make each element unique. Russ has developed a seminar for digital fine art that he presents to art societies and galleries. He has his works on display at several regional galleries, at malls and other commercial locations. Russ was recently awarded an Honorable Mention by
