Artist Notes
This is the second of the pictures I have posted that were taken from Kinneret, also known as the Sea of Galilee, Lake Tiberias and Lake Gennesaret in Israel. As I noted in the previous posting, Kinneret is the main drinking water source for Israeli cities and water is also exported to Jordan. Many countries and empires have laid claim to this body of water for over 2000 years. Fresh water is a very precious commodity in this part of the world. The water level in Kinneret is decreasing, which is causing great concern in Israel. In addition, as the water pressure lessens with the decrease in the depth of water, salt is starting to leach into the water. At its longest point it is 13 miles (21 km) in length. At its widest point it is 8.1 miles (13 km) wide. Numerous resorts have been built along its shores and there is a lot of boating on the water. There are very stringent regulations for the boats, since it is so very important that they not pollute the water. Kinneret sits in a basin and you will see tall hills, or small mountains, all around it. Not all of the shore is built up. In many places it looks quite desolate. Our group took a wonderful boat ride, tour, of the area and then stopped for a great dinner at one of the hotels. Then it was back on the bus, including the guards, to the hotel for the night. This was taken in June of 2006 and we had armed guards on our bus and walking with us for all of our trips outside of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Retired, but not by choice. Looking for something interesting to do part time. Working on improving my PhotoShop skills. Enjoying my new Nikon D5200 with an 18-200 lens and the photos I can capture with it compared to my older Nikon camera. There is a world of difference and I'm having a great time experimenting with it.
