Artist Notes
I took this photo from the Haas Promenade (Tayelet) as our tour bus arrived in Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. From the Promenade we are looking North at the City. We left New Jersey late in the afternoon, flew non-stop to Tel Aviv (something between 11 1/2 and 12 1/2 hrs.), where it was now morning. We went to a tree farm where we each planted a new tree, which is a custom and part of the forestation project in Israel, and then drove to Jerusalem. We were all tired, but this view really perked us up. The golden dome is The Dome of the Rock at the top of the Temple Mount, which is a Moslem Holy Site. Running horizontally about a third of the way up the photo is part of the Wall around the Old City of Jerusalem. The Walls surrounding the Old City were built by the Turkish sultan Suleiman the "Magnificent" during the years 1536-1541 and measure 3.8 km (2.36 mi.). The white "dots" you see on the rooftops are satellite dishes, which you see all over Israel. You can also see two construction derricks at the top of the picture working on new high rise buildings. This photo was taken about mid-day. I was using a hand held Nikon E8700 set in landscape mode, f/6.6, 1/190, ISO 50.
Slightly cropped and colors adjusted

Retired, but not by choice. Looking for something interesting to do part time. Working on improving my PhotoShop skills. Enjoying my new Nikon D5200 with an 18-200 lens and the photos I can capture with it compared to my older Nikon camera. There is a world of difference and I'm having a great time experimenting with it.
