Magpie-Lark just about to take off

A chapter in the book Birds

Magpie or Lark?

This little Magpie Lark was just about to take off as I took the photo, it is about 28cm (11") and the name confuses people as it is neither linked to the Magpie family or Lark family of birds. But it actually belongs in the Family Dicruridae (Monarchs, Fantails, and Drongos). It is mainly confined to mainland Australia.
