Artist Notes
Took a photo of myself at arm's length, sitting in front of a small Christmas tree in my living room. Clicked shutter on myself, then slowly extended my camera upwards and released. Added a texture to enhance the overall mood.
Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is my all time favorite book and movie. The 1951 movie version being my favorite, starring Alistair Sim. Hmmm, I wonder where he's from?
This is essentially my second attempt at long exposure. It hadn't even crossed my mind to try an indoor long exposure until I had viewed avmurray's submission for this contest. Thank you for the inspiration, Annie.
I could tell you the camera settings used, but I'd rather you check out "Photo Extremist" on Youtube. I used the exact settings that he describes. He's an amazing artist. It was quite simple.
I wanted the ghost to be "in your face"- I hope I achieved that!
By the way, that's me in a hoodie and mask. I'm actually much prettier and nicer in person, really! Though not much taller.
1 RAW photo, tonemapped in Photomatix, then added texture. Finished editing in Photoshop- curves, levels, contrast, etc.
ISO 200, f4.5, .8s
Happy New Year Everyone! And a very special Merry Christmas!
