This is a mourning dove! Their call is very mournful. It is a peaceful sound though. These are game birds and there is a lot killed each year. I know a lot of hunters that go out in September when the season opens. When they are being shot at they are fast. I think I am right, they will fly high and go about 70 mph. A very hard target to hit.
These birds come into my yard and they are save and they know it. They like to eat sunflower seed and ground corn. They are here year round.
I am using an Olympus E3 camera ISO 400 with a 70-300mm lens 250/sec f8
