Artist Notes
While out for my morning walk and photo session on January 27, 2012, I found that it was quite discouraging. There was an abundance of opportunities for great shots but without using high ISO settings it was impossible to get enough shutter speed because of the drab dreary day. I was pleasantly surprised after returning and downloading to the computer to find this great photo of the Blue Heron with his reflection in the water. The water was perfectly still because there was not a thing stirring. This Great Blue seemed to be a little surprised at the Bird staring back at him. The Great Blue Heron is one of my favorite birds to photograph. They are so majestic, so regal, so beautiful. There are numerous Great Blue Herons living in Japanese Gardens Mobile Home Estates. I feel blessed to live in a park that has such beauty and an abundance of birds to shoot with the camera. Here is some additional information on the Great Blue Heron.
??QUOTE??
The familiar Great Blue Heron is the largest heron in North America. It is a large bird, with a slate-gray body, chestnut and black accents, and very long legs and neck. In flight, it looks enormous, with a six-foot wingspan. Adults sport a shaggy ruff at the base of their necks. A black eyebrow extends back to black plumes emerging from the head. Juveniles have a dark crown with no plumes or ruff, and a mottled neck. In flight, a Great Blue Heron typically holds its head in toward its body with its neck bent.

John has been interested in photography for over 40 years. He thought that he was an excellent photographer John had taken over 20,000 pictures in his life time. In June of 2010 his wife purchased a Sony Alpha 330 and a course on line from jroush@roushstudios.com. He thought he knew a lot about taking pictures, but he found that he had not even scratched the surface about understanding the art of photography John is on his way to becoming a great photographer.

John's current adventure in photography began in the Paducah Kentucky area. Then job opportunities for his wife sent them to Colorado Springs Colorado for four months. He and his wife Jen now reside in a 55 plus community that borders on Old Tampa Bay in Clearwater FL. On the property there is a drainage lagoon that empties into Old Tampa Bay. It is a wild life photographers paradise. There has never been a time John has gone looking for wild life that he has not had the opportunity to capture a new bird in pict ...
