Clare Valley is 132km north of Adelaide and is renown for wineries, heritage towns, museums and art/craft galleries. Martindale Hall is 3km from Mintaro the popular tourist heritage town. The Georgian style mansion was designed by a London architect, building was supervised by an Adelaide architect and the majority of stonemasons working on the building were bought out from England specifically for this job. It was completed in 1879 and has a commanding view overlooking the valley. The mansion was used for the film Picnic at Hanging Rock. It is now open to the public and used for accommodation being very popular as a venue for Murder/mystery dinner parties.
