The Man of La Mancha is a 1965 Musical by Mitch Leigh [music] and Dale Wasserman [book] and Joe Darion [lyrics] based on Wassermanns 1959 novel of the same name. With four Broadway productions, several productions through the US and Canada and productions in nine languages and nine distinguished Spanish dialects, the 1972 movie and hundreds of music recordings around the world until today, it is one of the most enduring musicals in history. It won several awards including the Tony Award as best Musical. The musical is inspired by the world famous knight Don Quixote de La Mancha, main character in Miguel Cervantes seventeenth century master novel who has inspired uncounted artwork ever since its creation. I could not resist either. My picture shows the famous knight Don Quixote and his devoted manservant Sancho Panza.
