Artist Notes
Photo updated 7/13 - ahh much better.
The Latin on the banner says " The disciples prove life after death ". Historians believed that Medieval period work focused on abstractions to convey spiritual forms. Art in this period took a simple form. During the Renaissance period, art technique moved to realism and for centuries this art was forgotten. Some say that the abstract-impressionist movement resurrected this form of art- here is a little commemoration to the genre.

I have been studing medieval art for some time and admire the style and the fact that those who lived in the period really had a difficult life. Hence is why their art focused on realities beyond their grasp ( who could blame them- would you want to live in
the Middle Ages? You won't need to take a number ). Art from this period is deemed crude and " unreal " by some. On the other hand however, I see this art as " spiritual art ", our interpretation of a higher reality. My saying is keep the realism art in photography and use the paint brush to create beyond reality.
