Artist Notes
This is a photo I took at Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. I've been here a dozen times this year and never been there when the clouds are just right. It's either a bluebird clear day, or completely socked in with clouds, as it is here in this photo. There's a terrific peak that's usually visible in the near background and most always a good spot for reflections. After the grueling heat this year, I thought it might be refreshing to see a shot that was taken the day after a spring snow. It's about a mile hike each way to get here. When I left home at 3 am, the temperature was in the 60's. I forgot to bring a jacket. The temp was in the 30's here. My fingers were numb enough, it was hard to difficult a picture. My camera was set to daylight so I actually did warm it up a bit, to get away from the cold blue that it was.

Taken with a Canon T3 w/ Tamron zoom lens @ 18mm, F9, 8/10 sec, ISO 100

I cropped slightly and made some white balance adjustments. Hope you enjoy it!

I began my life as an amatuer photographer in 1974, with film. I enjoyed photgraphing wildlife and nature, but worked mostly with portraiture at that time. I began developing in my own darkroom and learned the artistic creation that was possible there, particularly with black & white.

I moved away from my hobby in the 90's as the digital revolution began and although easier to take and store photos, the quality was not there. I've recently had a resurgence in my interest in digital photography because technology is again returning the quality that I so much enjoy.

He is a ranked traditional photographer and is currently at the #79 spot on this years rankings.
