Artist Notes
This is a carving of a North American Indian,Who lost his right ear,and was scalped in a battle with U.S cavalry, they left him as dead. After many weeks in the care of the "Witch doctor"he was able to walk, and lived with feathers covering his impediment for the rest of his days.
In Indian mythology scalping is so the SOUL can go to "heaven" He might have thought that he had lost his soul, Sad thought.

English Walnut,Carved with a knife.6 inch high.
