Artist Notes
I shot this photo in May of this year. I had planned on being at another arch on this particular morning, but ended up here. I was using Denver's sunrise tables and got to the trailhead with 45 minutes more of darkness than I had expected, so I changed the plan and went to a destination a little further away. I ended up happy that I did.

This scene was shot about 20 minutes before sunrise and the clouds were spectacular. I shot these in manual mode and messed up with a little too dark of exposure. Since I was shooting RAW, I was able to lighten them and add a bit of saturation to duplicate the scene that I was actually seeing. I also cloned out some ugly signs and fences near the left edge of the photo. I ended up hunkered down under a rock outcropping in a lightning storm 45 minutes later on a high ridge. Fun hike!

This was shot with a Canon T3 using a Tamron 18 - 270, all in one zoom lens @ 30 mm. F4, 1/4 sec, ISO 100 with circular polarizing filter. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. This one hangs on the wall of my home in size 10 X 30.

Enjoy and thanks for looking!

I began my life as an amatuer photographer in 1974, with film. I enjoyed photgraphing wildlife and nature, but worked mostly with portraiture at that time. I began developing in my own darkroom and learned the artistic creation that was possible there, particularly with black & white.

I moved away from my hobby in the 90's as the digital revolution began and although easier to take and store photos, the quality was not there. I've recently had a resurgence in my interest in digital photography because technology is again returning the quality that I so much enjoy.
