This is a female cardinal. These birds are very beautiful. The male is a brilliant red and usually gets all the attention. I think the female is very beautiful too. The Cardinal is Kentucky state bird. They are found in the majority of the United States. I love to here them sing. To see a male sitting in a tree with his song "so-pretty-so-pretty-so-pretty" is an understatement. The female sings too. I feed these birds all year long. The are seed eaters and they love sunflower seed. They get what they like and I get to photograph them so everyone is happy! I hope you like what you see here! This was taken in deep woods and was getting late in the afternoon. I am using an Olympus E3 camera ISO 400 with a 70-300mm lens 60/sec f5.6
