Artist Notes
Looking to be cooled off on a hot summer day? Maybe not if you're looking at this from the southern hemisphere. It's still pretty hot now, here in Colorado. Cool down with this photo. It was shot this past spring after a light snowfall the day before. It made for a pretty scene even though I had been elsewhere at dawn and was a little late arriving here. The clouds were clearing, the temperature warming and the pond offered a little reflection of the not too distant mountains.

This was taken from a viewing area in Rocky Mountain National Park here in Colorado. This particular area was closed to hiking because of re-vegetation and to give solitude to many elk in the area. The best shot of the subject mountains was about 200 ft from where I was standing, so I set up in the most beneficial spot that I could for this shot. Thanks for looking, enjoy!

I began my life as an amatuer photographer in 1974, with film. I enjoyed photgraphing wildlife and nature, but worked mostly with portraiture at that time. I began developing in my own darkroom and learned the artistic creation that was possible there, particularly with black & white.

I moved away from my hobby in the 90's as the digital revolution began and although easier to take and store photos, the quality was not there. I've recently had a resurgence in my interest in digital photography because technology is again returning the quality that I so much enjoy.

He is a ranked traditional photographer and is currently at the #79 spot on this years rankings.
