Northern Lights are a light display in the high latitude Arctic Region. Pierre Gassendi named it Aurora Borealis in 1621 after the Roman goddess Aurora [dawn] and the Greek deity Boreas [north wind]. Some Auroras change in seconds while others glow unchanging for several hours. They occur in different colors but mostly in fluorescent green. There are a number of myths and religious interpretations around the light phenomenon. The Cree call it the Dance of the Spirits, while Europeans of the middle ages believed it to be a sign of God. A similar phenomenon is occurs in the Antarctic region, known as Aurora Australis or Southern Lights. I used several pictures published in a various number of magazines and on the internet as reference, but the Northern lights in the picture have no special time or location other then my imagination.
