Who know me; know I have a special love for the big wild cats of our world. I could not help myself but painted another one, the big cat known as Puma, in our area. It is painted in a mix of digital techniques, I am currently experimenting with. The picture was painted with oil brushes and the palette knife and got a finishing and smoothing touch with watercolors.

The Puma [Puma concolor] aka Mountain Lion, Panther, Catamount and Cougar is the second largest cat of the Americas. Its range, reaching from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes in Argentina and Chile, is the greatest of any terrestrial mammal in the northern hemisphere. The Puma is genetically the closest wild relative to our house cats. It is he has a much closer relation to those small relatives than to a Lion.
