This is a male Cardinal eating a sunflower seed. You can see the hull flying as he crunches down on the seed. When I was a kid I caught one in a chicken pen. I reached in and grabbed it. OH MY!!! He bit down on my hand and I started bleeding, like all the life lessons you learn growing up, that is one I will never forget!
