Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in the sacred confluence of the holy rivers of Ganges, the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati at Allahabad in North India. It is the belief that during the confluence of some planets, the holy dip in Ganges would wash away the sins! It is the world's largest religious gathering, with 100 million people reported to have taken bath over a period of 3 months in 2013, including 'Your's Sincerely?!:)
I took a dip too ( 3 times as per the ritual rules) ) in the freezing water of Ganges. Felt kind of rejuvenated. Hopefully my sins accumulated over the years got washed out!
The last Kumbh Mela began on 14 January 2013 at Allahabad.
I visited the KUMB MELA at the city of Allahabad in North India for the first time in my life and was speechless with the scenes I saw.
I just could?t contain myself and had to click this shot of people (read women! wink wink) changing after the holy dip with cloths on. Ans so I had to 'shoot from the hip'! :) I had to be very careful not to draw attention lest run the risk of getting lynched! (just kidding). However,a slap was a good possibility!
Camera: Canon SX130IS , hand held. Auto-settings. Cropping and minor adjustments.
ENJOY!
