Urban Art Contest Entry
Madison Square Park bounded by 23rd Street on the South and 26th Street on the North, Fifth Ave on the West and Madison on the East now has a variety of art experiences including a huge exhibit of sculptures by the English Tony Cragg. This is Points of View, one of three huge sculptures in the park. These are 3 stacked bronze sculptures that seem to interact with the individual, each other, and the whole Flatiron district. Cragg emphasizes the purpose of sculpture as encouraging the individual to broaden their view of themselves and the world around them. On this dreary winter day (despite green grass) the sculptures invited the viewer into the park and seemed to escort me as I walked through the park. In NYC one can't leave their homes without a whole art lesson!!
