The gorilla is the gentle giant of the jungle, mostly behaving peacefully. Only when a male is threatened will he put up a show of strength by standing tall, growling and beating his chest. They usually live in family groups with the dominant male leading and deciding where to sleep and eat and guarding them from other males who might try to take over the group. Gorillas are intelligent animals. I wanted to show in an expressive way the gentle female feeding her little one. I used water mixable oil paints on 24cm x 32cm linen finish paper for this.
