These are three of the 887 stone statues on Easter Island. Some are as high as 33 feet and are estimated to weigh in at 80 tones. The origin of all of these sculptures is still being debated. There are also estimated to be around 700-800 years old.

Recently scientists have excavated around these head statures and have found bodies that continue to a greater depth. All interesting.

Easter Island is dry so I did not use green colors for the vegetation as it often is a dried, brownish color. I also used an under painting which seem to improve the depth and colors as the painting evolved.

I did this painting with the help of FAR members who have encouraged me and have given me tips on improving. This image is dedicated to them! Thanks!
