I took this shot during the wedding celebrations of my son Vatsa in SF. He has been working as a scientist in America for the last 2 decades and holds a doctorate from USC. Vatsa and Neeru (she is a lawyer turned teacher) tied the proverbial knot after 2 years of courtship. She is a American Indian. (PIO-person Of Indian Origin).
There are two kinds of Indian brides. The first category comprises the coy, blushing bride who has dreamt of a big fat Indian wedding for as long as she can remember. Hunting for ideas, she flips through magazines, browses online, and checks out social media profiles of just married friends (and strangers). And then, there is the other type ? those who are in strict denial of the fact that their wedding is fast approaching (OMG, is it really next month!) and still don?t have a clue about what to wear!
But Neeru was well prepared. You see her with her twin sister (extreme left) and Sisters-in-law Laurel and Joni.(Yes. You are right. Ours is a joint Indian-American family) All of them dressed up in grand Indian wedding dresses. The occasion was a musical night with traditional wedding dongs sung by the brides side welcoming the groom. Here Neeru is waiting for the groom to arrive and poses coyly. The actual wedding took place 2 days later. It was a 5 day long ceremony!:) I will be posting some pics ASAP.
Camera: Canon Sx130IS, handheld, indoor light, standard settings. Image resized to FAR requirements.
Enjoy!
