The 'Alarming Lizard'
Traditional Artwork of the Month Contest Entry
Tarbosaurus ( whose name when translated from Greek into English means 'the Alarming Lizard' ) was a large ( approvimately 40 feet long ) and heavily built ( estimated adult weight of 5 to 6 tons ) Central Asian species of carnivorous Dinosaur closely related to the more widely known Tyrannosaurus Rex of North America. Both species existed during the later stages of the Cretaceous geological time period ( ranging from approximately 72 to 65 million years ago ) and both animals were apex predators who occupied the top positions in their territorial food chains!
