When you take macro shots of insects one thing is for sure, you are bound to come across something you've never seen before. This is a Mantidfly. Looks like Frankenstein created this crazy bug. I first saw this bug in 2015 and thought it looked like a cross between a wasp and a preying mantis. It's forelegs are just like a preying mantis and its body looks like a wasp. It hunts insects just like a preying mantis does. It's size is about the size of a wasp. I thought that's what it was until I took a closer look. I haven't seen this bug again since the day I shot it in June of 2015. The camera was hand held
