Birds at their watch

I Rule This Town

Bird Artwork Contest Entry
Happy Sunday to all. I composed the following poem to accompany this. Happy reading if you do! :)

The Scout-Eternal

I'm the Scout-Eternal;
The bird in the know.
They call me The Colonel
And I run the show.

With a flap of my wing,
Into line they fall.
And when I squawk or sing,
They answer my call.

It's simple, our mission
For the common good.
To fund our nutrition,
Our loot is your food.

Covered by my look-outs,
My raiders will swoop.
Unalarmed by your shouts,
Open-beaked, they scoop.

My wing bombers are primed
With bowels full and fat.
Their movements are well-timed,
Bombs away! Splat! Splat!

When I sound the retreat,
We move out as one.
In triumph, my wings beat
For a job well done.

My platoon is well drilled;
They puff out my chest.
Fleet of wing and sharp-billed,
They've learnt from the best.

My watch is nocturnal
Whilst my troops stand down.
I'm the Scout-Eternal
And I rule this town.
