A building in your life history Contest Entry
We were fortunate to be able to travel to Rome in 2009. One of the buildings that made the biggest impact on me was the Colosseum. Standing in front of the building was awesome. I could not stop looking at it in wonder. All the detail, the immense size, the historic record, a highlight of our trip. Workers in the the midst of cleaning the arches in the middle floor. You can see the scaffolding and removal of soot (air pollution). If you look to the far left, they have not yet gotten to that part as evidenced by the dark colors. The sun was just starting to set at this time, giving the structure and sky a golden glow. A memory etched forever. This structure is actually very hard to photograph. If you want the whole building, you get tons of tourists in the foreground, not to mention many cars. So I chose just a section that they were cleaning but that still revealed the architecture. Camera Canon SD990 (point at shoot at the Colosseum, a photographic faux pas)
