Fringed TULIP in my gardens in the Evening

....Twilight TULIP

There are so many things blossoming in my gardens right now that I had a difficult time trying to decide which one to present this week. Settled on this fringed TULIP for two reasons. First, they are going by....just about finished flowering until next season. More importantly though it won the ...in my head mental 'who's the most colorful' contest.

I grow several varieties of TULIPS but the one seen here is special. A late season bloomer called 'Firelight Fancy Fringe' it is not only the only fringed variety I grow it is also the only striped TULIP in my gardens.

Took this photo a couple of evenings ago. While this TULIP is pretty enough during the day it literally glows in the evening....that's when the 'Firelight' portion of it's name really rings true. While the colors are amazing though- in this image it was the stamens and seed heads at the center of the flower that seemed to want to grab all the attention. Did my best to give them center stage.

Post Type: Photography
