As I said in the short version, I was napping when colors, shadows, and shapes started to swirl on my closed eyelids. I rather enjoyed just watching whatever happened. I then started to mentally manipulate the patterns. When images like this painting started to appear I woke up and started painting. I used a few different sized and shaped pallet knives to do the paintings. I painted six different paintings at the same time to try to catch the different images that had appeared to me. I worked fast and furious breaking and maintaining a sweat as I worked. I wanted to catch as many drift and spontaneous forms as I could that equaled what I saw in my dream state. These paintings turned out bold and dramatic as the different layers of paint overlaid and in places merged and mixed with the other colors. Sometimes I held the pallet knife firmly, sometimes like a scalpel, and some times so lightly the knife dropped from my hand. The paint colors I used were Titanium white, Prussian blue and cobalt blue. I titled this painting "Breaking Loose" because I saw it as the first thaw of a mountain stream.
