Smelling with his blue tongue

Blue Tongue Skink

I had never seen a skink before, until I met this one at one of my client's home. I guess this reptile is becoming a very popular pet. They are a little shy but pretty social once they are comfortable. They use their blue tongues to scare off predators as well as to identify odors. They have very short legs and like many lizards, they move their lower eyelids up to blink, rather than their upper lids down.
