The 'Hill Bed' is one of the more remote beds in my gardens and the one that may show the most dramatic change from winter to summer. Situated in the flat area between the tall softwoods at the back of this image and the grasses at the front you'd have no idea that some of my tallest perennials will be hiding the lower third of these softwoods a mere four months from when this photo was taken.

Taken on a heavily overcast afternoon....that's Finnegan you see right frame. Always so careful about not bombing through the flowers once they were in bloom I was always fascinated how she stuck to the perimeter of every garden bed even when they were blanketed in snow.....
