I think Killdeers are funny birds. They get their name from the sound of their call. The most amusing things about these birds is that they perform a broken wing display to distract intruders and predators away from their nests and chicks.

To guard against large hoofed animals who could easily crush their eggs, they use a different display in which they fluff themselves up, display their tails over their head and charge towards the animal in an attempt to get them to change direction.
